Prim Doll

I thought my shawl was looking a little bland in taupe colored yarn.  So I got an alpaca/acrylic blend in a medium gray to add some visual interest to the shawl. I would have been content to stick to that project for the rest of my trip until I happened to be in a Barnes and Noble and ran across my Etsy friend's name on the front of a craft magazine.  Right there on the cover of Stuffed was her name in bold letters and a promised Artist's Profile inside.  Congrats Junker Jane.

So then I was bitten by the doll bug and had to go back to Beverly's to get some doll making supplies.  I got needles, thread, dark brown muslin, embroidery thread, eyes, and a bag of assorted trims. By the time I got around to making it my daughter was soon off work.  So so far I only have the head, and the eyes sewn together.  I cut out the body and legs. I have no idea how to add the arms yet. I wanted to work on it more tonight but the family wanted to watch a gory vampire movie, so we did that instead. No way to sew in a dark living room. I think I'll use buttons to hold on the arms and legs.

Sitting in Linnea's Cafe garden making dolls would make me happy if I could do it every day.

People passing by gave me some funny looks seeing this doll in a box.

I have one more leg warmer to make.  And some sort of necklace. Almost done.

Day of Crafts

Saturday was a craft filled day. I got a book on Fair Isle Knitting and started making a hat out of it just for practice. I didn't have the right size needles handy to follow the pattern, but since I'm just learning a technique I made it with what I had on hand. Sometimes learning the skill is more important than the finished product.

The other book I got was on making stuffed animals.  That's going to be a lot of fun to do. Mostly I want to make the dachshund because my daughter loves dachshunds.

Then I got to try out my new needle punch set. It works like a dream. I've very pleased with it. The ergonomic design is easier on my hands, meaning I can go longer without breaks. Right now I'm working on a horse silhouette against a stained glass style background. While I'm working on one project I get ideas for so many more that I can do.

Bunny 2

Today I was mainly obsessed with surviving my dentist appointment. But I did manage to work on knitted bunny #2. It has a fatter body than the first one. I just have to find my yarn needle and take the last few stitches off the needles so I can start on the ears or the arms and legs.
The photo is of the head and the body.

Joann's is next to the dentist so I was able to run in there and get some more beading glue while it was 30% off. I still have another tube, but the top point broke off so I'm not sure if it's going to get dried out now. Also on sale was the jewelry wire and beading needles. It was a bit ominous when the total was $6.66 right before I had to go to the dentist. Hmmm.

Beading an Art Doll

I'd like to say I did a lot of useful things today but I didn't. I did some beading on a fabric art doll I'm making. I'm sewing green seed beads around the doll's clay face so I can do Peyote stitch. I'm not convinced the glue will hold it tight, but the beadwork will once I get a few rows around the face.
I did a lot of social networking on line though. Added a bunch of new people to Twitter, updated my profile on hubpages.com, and blogged.

Stuffed Felt Owl

Today I found the missing stuffing for my felt owl. The owl was on the table by my elbow. The stuffing was behind my chair the whole time

Gold Norkel and Gold Teddy

I got these two felt creations in my shop just now: Spankytease
The new dog upstairs barks everytime I go outside to take a photo.
I posted one new bear and one new Norkel alien doll. These are sewn completely by hand and no two are the same. And I have a bunch of new colors coming out soon.
