For my birthday I've decided to buy an inexpensive paint-by-number kit at the local market that I saw a few days ago. I really enjoyed doing them as a child, but I feel a little silly now that I've gone to college to study art to go seemingly backwards and resort to a paint-by-number kit. But it's nostalgic. I have known adults to do them. My father used to do the kind with the velvet background of race horses and such.
Also, did you see that movie where a bunch of college girls were trying to get their MRS. degree and their teacher was surprised when they all did paint-by-number kits of Van Gogh's sunflowers? I can't remember the name of it to save my life, but it was about feminism and women learning to live up to their potential instead of becoming Suzy Homemaker.
I just can't decide which of the four kits I want. There is a train, two with horses, and one with dogs. Not the greatest selection. I could have a better selection on line, but I want to start it today, while it's still my birthday.

Traveling
I'm up in Atascadero CA celebrating my grandson's first birthday.
It was a fun party with a puppy dog theme.
It was hard to squeeze in my daily painting but at least I got started on it. Go me! I have very limited computer access while traveling so I feel like I'm behind on everything. I guess I'm going to have to break down and invest in a laptop after all. It's hard to save for a laptop and a car at the same time though.
I got some knitting and crocheting done on the train on the way up here at least. The train has wifi now and I was envious of all the other people that could use the Internet when I couldn't.
It's so beautiful up here. My daughter's new house is surrounded by rolling hills and oak trees. I'll share photos when I get back.

Happy Birthday to Me
My daughter and son in law are here celebrating my birthday with me. It's like show and tell where we can share the crafts we are making and talk about all our projects.
We went to see Benjamin Button which is a movie that really makes you think.
Then we cruised around Downtown Disney. I wanted to go to Sephora to look for eye-liner. But there is no way I'm spending over $10 a piece on any make-up. That's crazy talk. I'll wait for a coupon and get make-up at Right Aid or Walgreen's. Sephora had some glittery eyeliner I liked but it was $18.99 a tube. For that I can paint on a line and touch glitter to it for less than .25.
My legs were getting pretty tired and it was getting cold after dark, so we went back to my house and had meatloaf and baked potatoes and pumpkin pie. One of my better birthdays I must say.
