Working on the Hexagons

While driving around shopping today, I used every opportunity to work on my crocheted hexagons. I just love watching all the colors play together. It is good therapy for me. I can't wait to see what happens when I add new colors to the mix. Yes, I am a color nerd. I haven't decided what to do with all my hexagons yet. I don't really need another afghan. I'm thinking of making a messenger bag. Or maybe a lap quilt. Hmmm, what to do, what to do. Sometimes crochet is its own reward.

I also went to Michaels and they didn't have the block printing ink that I need. So I went to Hobby
Lobby and found it there. It was more than I wanted to spend so I only got one tube of black.

Remember when I was looking for cute glass jars with lids for my inspiration project? I ended up getting glass jars without lids a while back. Well, Hobby Lobby has some nice glass containers with lids. But even better, the .99 store down the row had some lovely lidded glass jars for .99 each, about 1/3 what Hobby Lobby was charging. But I won't have any money until the first (if then) so the jar quest will have to wait.

Someone picked up a glass cutter for me last week, so if I can find a lazy susan I can do the glass bottle projects I've been  hankering to do. Too many crafts, too little time.

A Vest A Snood and Broken Glass

I got back to work on my knitted vest. I was afraid that if I waited much longer, I'd forget how to do it or where the pattern was. My hands could only take about 90 minutes of knitting four strands at once.  This is the heaviest vest I've ever made and will be even heavier when I do the last panel.

Yesterday I finished a white snood with a metallic strand in it. It's a gift for my boyfriend's mom and she chose the yarn. I like the way it came out. It's super stretchy.

Next I did some laundry. No rain today thankfully. I was sitting on the couch admiring the sunshine when I heard the sound of crashing glass. I looked up in time to see a pane of glass falling through the stairs, then our upstairs neighbor running down the stairs and tromping through the flowerbed.  She went back upstairs empty handed and never came back. So it looks like I'm going to have to clean up the glass and it won't be the first time. Kids lose their balls and toys back there, so if someone gets a toe cut off most likely it would be one of them. Somewhere I saw a bathroom sign with rules to live by for success. One of the rules was 'clean up your own mess.' Something a lot of adults have yet to learn I guess.

Two Beaded Necklaces

I rolled out of bed this morning and beaded two necklaces with bigger chunkier beads to offset all the projects I have going with tiny seed beads. I just needed something that would give me some instant gratification. One necklace is in warm shades and would look great over a black turtleneck and the other is shades of blue and pink with swirls of silvery color. Even though I didn't try to make them the same length they came out exactly the same length. They would be great for a sophisticated gypsy look or to wear with an African print. A perfect activity for a rainy day.

I used glass and plastic beads as well as chips of red jasper. And though I put clasps on both of them, they do fit over my head unless I'm wearing a hat or have big hair.

Now I'm painting a big gourd black to use as a necklace stand.

Wire Basket and New Steampunk Blog

I also reserved the name Steampunk on Art Fire. No listings there yet but I hope to have some up soon.

Most of tonight I spent working on a purple wire basket with swarovski crystals and glass beads. It's turning out quite nicely but tomorrow's another day.
