Today we went to a rummage sale and I found a whole box full of white lace curtains. I was even happier when without any haggling she dropped the price from $5 to $4. My boyfriend stocked up on .25 cookbooks. I also bought a bag of buttons in shades of blue for a quarter. I go through a lot of buttons because they go with a lot of craft projects.
Anyway I've been looking for lace for some Magnolia Pearl inspired summer tops. I'm not sure I want white though. I'll probably dye it some other color. When I dug though the curtains at home, at the very bottom was a cute little battery operated alarm clock with glowing hands and numbers. Love! That was a total surprise.
Two friends found us a washing machine, so now sewing is going to be a lot easier. I won't waste half a day each week dealing with the laundromat.
If anyone is in Lucerne Valley, CA tomorrow the Senior Center's sale is still going on. Outdoors on the patio are all the yard sale items. Indoors where it is cool has booths set up with ceramics, stained glass supplies, some Roy Roger memorabilia, and other goodies. They can really use the money so drop by if you can and pick up a few things.

I Need a Sewing Machine
Hi my doves,
When I sewed the Christmas stockings, my poor sewing machine seemed to be on it's last legs. I sure hope I can find a replacement. Money is real tight right now though. I have a lot of sewing to do, including curtains for every window in the house. I'm not sure why, but someone took down all the curtain rods, and Venetian blinds just don't keep the cold air out. My serger still works so I need to see if I can change it from 3 needles to 4 needles. Normally I just use it for hemming and finishing raw edges. Or I need to bite the bullet and learn how to sew on my boyfriend's industrial machine. That has some feed dog issues though. But surely I can find a solution without spending $300 that I don't have.

One More Time
Hello my doves,
We've just finished filling our 4th moving van. I am beyond tired but I still have to drive 2 1/2 hours to our new home. So I'm relaxing for a few minutes to let my feet and back rest. The dryer went to a nice lady who just got back from the hospital visiting a new grandson. I'm glad it went to someone that really needs it.
We gave a nice propane bbq to our neighbors. His son helped us move. To the workers go the spoils.
The garage is empty. The backyard is cleared of the things we wanted to keep and a whole dumpster of things we didn't want to keep. Now we are doing the last bit of the house. Even for a tiny kitchen, we sure had a lot in it. Soon we will unplug the computer and hope it works at the new house. We'll only have dial up there, which I'm not happy about. I hope I can still access my favorite sites.
Today I made a side trip to M&L fabric to pick up some turquoise fabric for my bedroom curtains. The house is already carpeted in dark blue, so I'm kinda stuck with blue. But I'm going to do turquoise and rust and orange and desert themed colors, like I grew up with in N. Mexico. And not much of the blue rug is visable with my bed and furniture taking up most of my room.
I also found some cool pumpkin fabric for Halloween that I couldn't resist at only $2.49. a yard.
Okay the grumpy people are telling me to get back to work so I gotta go. Take care, see you when I get back on the net.
