Work In Progress: Crocheted Hexagons & a Knitted Snake

These are crocheted hexagons. Each motif has 5 rounds.  Here I am on round 4. We are having an unseasonably warm January so I've been able to knit and crochet outdoors in my yard. I haven't decided what I want to use the hexagons for. I don't really need an afghan.

I also worked on my knitted snake today. I think I'm at the halfway point so from here on out I'll be decreasing. It's been fun adding different colors to it.

Knitting a snake on DPN's in Stockinette stitch.

A fun project but I'm not looking forward to weaving in all the ends.

Jewelry gourds and more gourd ideas.

This afternoon I got to work on some of the gourds we just bought. Lucky for us, there is a shoe repair shop half a block away and he sells leather dye, since I'd used up all the yellow dye on my last drum.

I cut the tops off four jewelry gourds today. I want to make them into necklaces that hold incense or spices. There is a learning curve to that. The first one I cut pretty crooked with the coping saw so I had to get some help. After a few tips I was able to cut the other tops off fairly straight and sand them smooth with a 4 in one file.

And here is a look at the snake gourds I got. I want to turn the v-shaped gourd into a harp. I keep picking projects that are beyond my skill level but how else will I grow as an artist?

Tonight we'll do some wood burning on the gourds as soon as I clear a table.

Snake Gourd Quiver

Today was archery range day and I wanted to work on something related to that so I took the snake gourd quiver I am working on and designed a leather kokopelli patch for it and started doing the beadwork around it. I was going to make a peyote stitch band to go around it but the beads just wouldn't cooperate. I started 4 times and ended up just cutting it apart and working on the kokopelli instead. I got pretty far on it until it got too cold out to work on it. The sun never really did come out today.
