Working on a Painting With Fun Shapes

I'm getting ready to go out of town for 4 or 5 days. I don't really want to lose the great flow I'm having with my artwork, but I need balance in my life too and that means participating in family events.
I picked a hard painting today.  Lots of small intricate shapes to paint  After hours of working on it, my hands died and my eyes burned and my shoulders ached, so I had to give it up for the night.  It's going to be interesting to see if I can manage to paint while on my journey by train and on the road. I can only take minimal supplies with me. I'll let you know how it goes when I get back.
I'm obviously not going to be able to do my new Etsy shop grand opening today at 1 PM. I'll be at the train station. Oh well, best laid plans.  I had to push back the date to Dec. 15, 2011.  That way I'll have a few days to work on listings once I get back home next week. I'll have to write descriptions and do photos and so on. And I realized my scanner won't hold a 12 x 12" painting. It's too narrow.  So all the photos will have to be done with my digital camera. I had hoped to open on the first and catch some of the Christmas shoppers.  Oh well, can't win them all.  See you in a few days my faithful readers.

Lost Project Day

I am really getting buried under unfinished fiber arts projects, so I just dragged several bags of them out to the patio to sort.

One was a scarf that was already done. I thought I still had to sew the ends in, but it's fringe, not loose threads. So I got that up and listed on Etsy here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/50546967/neon-confetti-skinny-knitted-fashion

Next I have two knitted hats to finish. I wish I could sell them but they are from a copyrighted pattern on Knitty.com. So one is for my boyfriend and one is for me.

Then there was the pumpkin hat I started for my grandson while I was traveling, but as most trips go, I didn't have time to finish knitting it.

And I'm working on a geometric knitting pattern that was for an afghan but I plan to use the shapes for hats, vests, and a jacket. So that is on the table too.

I'll add photos of the scarf.

Scroll Saw

I decided to try again with the scroll saw. Last time I dragged it out it was almost dark and I never really got it going right. So after about 30 minutes of messing with it I finally got it going in the right direction. After another hour of cutting shapes out of wood, my hands were too fatigued to continue. Between trying to hold the wood flat so it wouldn't rattle up and down, and the vibration, my hands feel weak. Even typing is hard. I did get three shapes cut out though. But if it takes this long to cut them out, much less sand them, decorate them, and put a finish, I'd have to sell them for $20 a piece. So let's hope I get better at it with some practice.
