Sorry I missed a day or two here. I have some kind of 24 hour flu. Feeling much better today but still really tired.
I'm looking forward to working on my peach scarflette. I wanted to knit another panel for it but wasn't lucid enough yesterday to do it. It's one of those lace patterns with yarn overs and is tedious even when I'm at my best.
Get your daily craft fix here as I talk about the projects I'm working on. For more specifics, please visit my other blogs by viewing my profile. I will aim at posting daily unless I am out of town at a craft event or family function. ************************** Original contents including text and graphics Copyright Fayme Harper 2008-2014

Archer in Bulgaria
I have a friend in Bulgaria (Sofia) named Iliana who just opened an Etsy shop. She emailed my boyfriend to tell us about Etsy. She didn't know I've been on Etsy for 3 years. I guess I should tell my real life friends that Etsy exists.
Anyway, she has wonderful things made of leather. http://www.etsy.com/shop/MadeOfLeather I hope you will go see and add her to your favorites. She comes to visit the local archers when she can (in Pasadena CA). And then we send a few of our archers to Bulgaria each year for an exchange of bowmaking ideas. We even have an auction to raise money for the trip. http://www.paleoplanet.net/. To find the auction, scroll to the bottom of the main page, and look for 'trade blanket'.

Photos of Queen's Champion Archery
All day it looked like it could rain any moment, but it never did. We were home safe and sound when it finally started raining about 11 PM at night. All in all it was a great day. Our friends showed up to show support and share kettle corn, archery stories, and a dinner out on the town at Sizzler's. We had so much fun we booked another event in March. Check out the photos. I was so busy having fun I never even walked to the other end of the field to take photos of the actual archery competition. Ah well, you know how it is. When you have a booth you have to stay close to it in case your services are needed.
The ground was mushy from the rain Friday night, so we couldn't drive to the booth. So we hand carried everything from the parking lot to the booth. But our friends are great and helped us schlep things back to the truck when the day was done. Enjoy the photos.

See you in Van Nuys (Queen's Champion Archery)
It looks like we are still going to the archery event in Van Nuys when it's light out again. There is a 30% chance of rain, so it's a bit iffy. Unless it's pouring when my alarm rings at 6 AM we are still going.Which means I should get to bed. We already loaded the truck. I just have to put my costume (garb) on in the morning and get my sleepyhead into the truck. Wish me luck.

Queen's Champion Archery on Sunday Feb. 21, 2010
We are still on for the SCA event on Sunday in Van Nuys. Unfortunately we still haven't gotten the tax certificate from the City of LA even though they said they mailed it days ago, so it looks like we are driving to L.A. today to pick up a temporary copy unless it comes in today's mail. I also found out my business cards won't be delivered by UPS until Monday. So I won't have those for the event either. but Office Depot is having a special on 500 cards for $5 with a day's turn over, so I ordered those and have to go get those today. Guy got his cards already and I love the way they turned out. We just hope it doesn't rain on Sunday. Other than that we are good to go.

Drum
It was a lovely day so we worked on putting the rawhide heads on some gourd drums. I got my first drum head cut out and punched tiny holes for the lacing. That's as far as I got because I'm still having trouble with my hands. But I got to watch guy soak a drum head and apply it to a drum. It looks like a tortilla only stronger. While it's wet you get it as tight as possible. He got two or three drums done today. Maybe I can work on mine tomorrow.

Archery Event Feb. 23, 2010
We are getting ready to vend at an SCA archery event on Feb. 21, 2010. So I've been running around like the proverbial chicken. We will have arrows and bow socks, gourd drums, and whatever inventory I can get together and fill in the spaces with. It's the first event we've signed up for this year. They do require a business license from LA, and we haven't gotten that in the mail yet, so I'm a little worried it's stuck in red tape somewhere. If we don't get it in a few days we'll have to drive to LA and apply in person and I'd rather not have to do that.
And if you are in the SCA and know what the heck I'm talking about see you at Queen's Champion Archery at the Greenman Archery booth.

S.C.A.M.P.S is Born...Well Almost
It was supposed to rain tonight, but when I woke up this morning it was already drizzling. I guess the clouds didn't read the weather report.
I'm starting a group called S.C.A.M.P.S. which stands for Sewing, Crochet, Art, Metalwork, Patchwork, Superstars. At least I want too. It's still simmering in the back of my mind. The main problem is I want to have the meetings during the week, and most people can only come on weekends. I don't like to tie up my weekends in case I have to go out of town or do a craft show. Always a dilemma. I need a week with 5 days in the weekend, and 2 days in the week.
I'm working on a hat band for a bonnet I knitted. I should have finished the hat already but my hands got too aggravated and I had to lay off the knitting for a week. My friend thinks I have RMI or repetitive motion injury. I can't even turn a doorknob with my left hand. But enough about me. What are you making today?

Two New Paintings
First thing this morning I grabbed my canvasses and my paints and headed outdoors. I spent much of the day painting. And I'll be able to post them on Deviant Art now that I started using that again. The first one is an idea I got from a flash of a TV show. It was hanging over a bed in one of those home remodeling shows.
The second painting is of succulents growing in my backyard, So I'm calling it Succulents at Twilight. I wish the sun hadn't gone down at 5:30 PM. I had to stop painting for the night. It was too chilly for one thing and too dark for another. It felt good to be painting again.

SNB Fountain Valley Jan 2010
Yesterday was our monthly Stitch-n-Bitch in Fountain Valley, California. Here are some photos of people and their projects.
Heidi works on knitting a blanket.
Amelia models a knitted hat inspired by the Jayne Hat in Firefly. Her mom Marianne made it.
Amelia is making a critter that doesn't have a head yet based on an anime cartoon.
Guy carries the bowsocks he's making out to the truck.
He hand dyed every one of those.
The beaded heart brooch / pin I'm working on.
We snacked on blueberries, blackberries, apples and marbled bread. Marianne was carding wool and alpaca together to make gray fiber. Roseanna was making a beaded bead. Danny and Ellen came to visit.
